The VRMG boss and renowned Ghanaian rapper and singer, Edem, in a Facebook post, expressed disappointment and anger in reaction to a post made by actor and musician, David Oscar on his Facebook page which tends to portray the new single titled “Toto”, released by the rapper few weeks ago, as profane and an insult to womanhood.
The lines in the song “we dey hustle for xetoto toto xetoto,….boys dey hustle for xetoto toto xetoto” got many critics concluding the song as profane because ‘Toto’literally means ‘Vagina’ in Gã language.
Edem took to his Facebook page to debunk and educate David Oscar about the choice of artwork for his song by his Director.
Below is the post by David Oscar that triggered the feud:
“Whiles Samini is empowering the women …. Singing “My Own” , “Maware Obaa” …. Other mpanyin Toto fuor are singing “womaametwe” , “Tokro abodwes3”, “Hustle for the Toto” and Gbang Gbang ……. Songs that clearly demean and sexualize womanhood and your argument is that sex sells?
My argument is this …. They are shallow and perverse ….. Nothing deep to teach the youth, only 3twe and koti
Here is Edem’s rebuttal:
“Dear David Oscar ..
I thought u were smart till today…U should do your homework before blabbing on social media for attention u rarely get…Same Oscar who attacked DKB ,same Oscar who Attacked Dumsor ppl, same Oscar who brought his first Reggae Song to me for approval..My guy Don’t show ignorance here because of an artwork, smart ppl listen to lyrics…Below is the bag my creative director used…
U are bitter and u should start being happy with whatever choices ppl make and stick with yours…Don’t misinterpret my language for your convenience…Mi zana susu le Facebook ya gbadeke gbe o…”
Before and after the release of the song, many eyebrows were raised because of the artwork and the title, which compelled Edem to grant several interviews on different platforms in an attempt to defend and clarify the title, ‘Toto’, which originally was meant to convey another meaning to his music lovers.
