The Black Queens of Ghana took on the Super Falcons of Nigeria in the semi final of the ongoing WAFU Zone B Women championship in Cote d’Ivoire.
Coach Mercy Tagoe went into this tourney without most of her key players so had to rely on only home based players due to delay of process in the call up of most of the players that play outside the country.
The Black Queens finished second in Group A with only a goal difference separating them and the first place Cote D’Ivoire with both teams securing 7 points each after three games.
The semi final pairings were honoured today and the Queens took on the Super Falcons in a very tight encounter. The game ended goalless after full time with the Queens loosing 4-2 on penalties. They failed in a quest to defend their title.
All is set for the final and the 3rd place game which comes off this weekend. Ghana will take on Mali who also lost 2-1 to host nation Ivory Coast in the 3rd place game on Saturday and the final will be honoured on Sunday.
