Just in: Kotoko official fingered in alleged match fixing attempt

According to reports speculating in the local media today, a supposed official of Asante Kotoko who goes by the name Shishila is alleged to have attempted to pay bribe in order to influence game against Ashantigold SC in their favour.

Retired referee, Robert Kakabo Mensah has indicated very clear on Sunyani base Nimde FM that, Shishila called him and told him he is Kotoko’s operations manager who is very close to Kotoko’s CEO Dr. Kwame Kyei so he should lead him to the referees since the Porcupine Warriors need that win badly.

The game was a match week 11 fixture of the ongoing Normalisation Committee Special Cup between Ashantigold S.C and Asante Kotoko at the Len Clay stadium. The Miners run out 1-0 in that game.

According to Robert Kakabo Mensah, he met with the supposed Kotoko’s operations manager, Shishila in Techiman and escorted him to Tamale to meet the officials led by refree Ali Alhassan. He furthered on by saying after the meeting, Shishila handed the referees a polythene bag with money inside but the exact amount of the money was not determined by any of them.

He moved on by saying he received a call from Shishila after the game demanding his money which is believed to be GH8,000 back since the referees failed to influence the game in their favour. I then called back the referees to refund the main money back but the referees said they have used the money already, Kakabo landed.
