In match week 12 of the ongoing Normalisation Committee Special cup, Berekum Chelsea suffered a shocking 1-3 home loss to Bechem United at the Golden City park last Wednesday.
Goalkeeper and general captain of Berekum Chelsea, Gideon Ahinkorah has disclosed to Kumasi based Angel FM that he received two slaps from Nana Kwame Nketiah for been alleged of staking bet following their defeat to Bechem United.
According to Ahenkorah, Nana Kwame Nketiah wasn’t at the stadium when he conceded that goal which resulted into that debate that he has placed a bet. Nana Kwame later came and over heard the fans saying. He then quickly came to the dressing room after the first half and gave me two slaps.
He furthered by saying, the CEO told him that, why should an experience goalkeeper of his calibre concede those silly goals. Ahinkorah didn’t continued the game so another goalkeeper kept the poles for the Blues due to how angry he was at that moment and might concede more than that if he had continued to keep the poles.
Ahinkorah added by saying, the fans were all over saying the players headed by him the general skipper have stake a bet in favour of Bechem to win 0-2 meanwhile the game ended 1-3.
“I am a strong Christian who always pray and fast for almost four or five times in a week just to seek for a win for the club so how then will I turn back and stake a bet against the team.”
Also, he indicated Nana Kwame Nketiah after slapping him called him together with some pastors after the game to apologise for what he did because his investigations tells him the story on which he reacted was total false.”
On his contract issues with the club, “my contract with Berekum Chelsea ended in August last year but I’m still serving the club because of the relationship that exist between Nana Kwame and I”, he landed.
