Enyimba S.C yesterday were crowned Nigerian Professional Football League champions for the eight time in their history after beating Akwa United 3-0 at the Agege Stadium in Lagos to earn most points in the play offs.
Enyimba displayed scintillating performance throughout the season and also in the super six championship playoffs in Nigeria. Five games were played in the Playoffs with the People’s Elephant finishing top after amassing massive twelve points out of the total fifteen.
The two time African champions achieved this success with two Ghanaians in their set up; goalkeeper Fataw Dauda and former Elmina Sharks midfielder, Farouk Mohammed. Farouk lasted the entire duration of the game last night whiles Fataw Dauda was not included in the match day squad.
Fataw Dauda has previously won the Ghana Premier League with Ashantigold, won the South African Cup with Orlando Pirates and has now clinched the Nigerian Premier League with Enyimba.
Coach Usman Abd’Allah has now won his second league title and this has given him and his lads the opportunity to represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League in the 2019/20 season.
