Black Stars General Capain Asamoah Gyan after Ghana’s defeat last night to Tunisia stated emphatically clear to the Media that, he might not continue for the Black Stars and this might be his last Nation’s Cup appearance.
The Black Stars took on the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia yesterday at the Ismailia Stadium in the last round of sixteen fixtures of the ongoing African Cup of Nations. The game ended 1-1 after extra time with the Tunisians winning 5-4 on penalties to end the Black Stars hopes of winning the tournament for the first time in 37 years.
Former Black Stars substantive captain after the game last night, told the media men in the tunnel this might be his last AFCON. He said:
“It could be my last African Cup of Nations, it could be. I don’t know but it could be.” This is what he said.
Asamoah Gyan initially has scored in his last nine major competition for the Black Stars but couldn’t deliver this time around due to lack of playing time. Gyan even before this tournament was stripped off his armband to then deputy captain, Andre Ayew and was made the General Captain.
Asamoah Gyan in Ghana’s first game against Benin was introduced in the last twelve minutes of the game. He failed to make an appearance against Cameroon but also featured against Guinea-Bissau in the last group game. Against Tunisia last night, he was introduced on the 84th minute for Skipper Andre Ayew.
Asamoah Gyan retired from the National team initially after the captaincy was taking from him, communication from the Presidency made him changed his mind and reversed his decision.
