Ghanaian international winger, Andre Ayew scored twice in Swansea City’s 3-1 thrashing they gave to Northampton Town last night at the Liberty Stadium in the first round of the EFL Cup.
The visitors first took the lead on the 61st minute to put the home fans into scare since they knew their chances of advancing into the next stage is getting slim. Suddenly, three goals in the last ten minutes aided the Swans to run out 3-1 victors in the game. They will host Cambridge United in the second round of the competition.
Andre Ayew’s double headers on the 81st and 88th minutes was enough to land Swansea’s first and third goal respectively whiles midfielder George Byers’s also registered his name on the score sheet with his 20 yarder on the 83rd minute.
The 29 year old after returning from his one year loan spell at Turkish giant Fenerbahce has been sensational for the Swans. He made over 20 appearances for the Yellow Canaries in the just ended Turkish Super league season having scored five goals throughout the season.
One will say, Andre Ayew 29, didn’t enjoy his stay in Turkey due to the series of injuries he faced. He was sidelined for months before recovering in the latter part of the season with just some few games to end everything. Despite been linked to clubs like Aston Villa and others, Andre Ayew still remains Swansea City player.
