Ghanaian international and Phoenix Rising Stars winger Solomon Asante, has been voted United Soccer League player of the month of August after exhibiting a stellar performance for his club throughout the month.
This is the second time the Phoenix Rising skipper is clinching this award having also won in June this year. He was involved in nine goals within the month with six goals and three assists and also guided his side to six consecutive victories in the league. His direct competitor for this accolade was San Antonio United’s Cristian Parano who also scored 5 and assisted 2 within the month.
The 28 year old won after a poll of voting was conducted for the United Soccer League fans and also included a pannel of committee’s decision.
Solomon Asante accumulated 50 percent of the total votes cast whiles Cristian Parano came second with 27 percent and Birmingham Legion FC goalie Matt Van Oekel finished third with 18 percent of the votes.
Solomon Asante has been phenomenal for Phoenix Rising Stars in the league this season. He is now the player with the most combined goals and assists in a single season in the USL with 21 goals and 14 assists.
