Ghanaian international centre-back, Jonathan Mensah has been adjudged best defender for the second consecutive time in Columbus Crew’s end of season awards.
Jonathan Mensah since joining from Anzhi Makhachkala two seasons ago has been sensational and has provided the solidity Columbus Crew needed at the back. He was named the club’s best defender in the previous season and has been able to defend his accolade.
Jonathan Mensah 29, was instrumental for Columbus Crew in the MLS, he made 24 appearances including 23 starts, he had more minutes than any other defender at the club.
Jonathan sustained an injury along the middle of the season yet had more minutes than all the defenders including compatriots Lalas Abubakar and Afful Harrison.
Mensah’s stats in the just ended season was just incredible, he made 109 clearances and won 72 aerial duels which is obvious about him because of how stalwart he is.
The 29 year old has now joined the list of players to clinch two or more awards in Columbus Crew’s end of season awards. Brad Friedel and Chad Marshall all achieved this glory.
