The 2019/20 Ghana Premier league enters into match week two this weekend and obviously there are some interesting pairings coming up across seven venues this afternoon.
Two games of the second round has already been cleared off as Asante Kotoko rose from a goal down to beat noisy Legon Cities FC by 1-3 last Friday night in Accra. Meanwhile, Inter Allies also recorded their first win of the season after beating the Hunters by a narrow 2-1 victory yesterday.
With seven games coming up this afternoon, Eblaradio is at hand to preview you on all the games coming up.
*Medeama S.C VRS Hearts of Oak:
The Mauves and Yellows host Hearts of Oak at the Akoon Park in a herculean clash in Tarkwa this afternoon. Medeama S.C recorded an emphatic 1-3 away win over the Crabs in their opening game in Cape Coast whereas the Phobians lost to Berekum Chelsea in front of their own fans and that led to the sacking of their head coach Kim Grant. Auroras head coach, Edward Nii Odoom handed the big task to takeover for now. Looks very difficult for Hearts and is very likely they will extend their first win of the season to another week as this is going to be a tedious task for them. Kwesi Donsu and Ibrahim Yaro have all recovered from injury and are likely to be in Coach Samuel Boadu’s starting line up this afternoon.
*King Faisal FC VRS Ashanti Gold S.C:
Returnees, King Faisal Babies will square off with Ashanti Gold at the Baba Yara Stadium today. The “Insha Allah” lads look very desperate of recording their first win of the season and also to send signals out there that they are back to stay in the top flight. They were humiliated by Dreams FC in their first game in Dawu after been thumped on by 4-1. Also, the Miners look very confident of picking all three points in Kumasi to maintain their hundred percent record so far following an impressive performance in their first game against Great Olympics in Obuasi.
*Berekum Chelsea VRS Liberty Professionals:
Elsewhere in Berekum, the Blues will be coming face to face to a wounded Liberty Professionals who got a 2-2 drawn game in their opening fixture of the season against the newly branded Legon Cities FC in Dansoman. Berekum Chelsea however, will be heading into this game with so much confidence after silencing the Ohene Gyan Stadium last Sunday after humbling Hearts of Oak by 1-0. Despite the venue still remains a fortress, the Blues are also in a great form to make it two out of two wins by the close of the day.
*Eleven Wonders VRS Dreams FC:
Will Emmanuel Okran create another wonderful eye seeing at the Nana Collins Ameyaw Park this afternoon like he did against King Faisel in the previous week? Looks very possible somehow but the Techiman based side will really give the Still Believe lads a good run for their money despite going down to Asante Kotoko in their first game in Kumasi. Dreams recorded a resounding 4-1 win over King Faisel in Dawu and will anticipate to maintain top four spot after the round of two pairings.
*Elmina Sharks VRS Karela United FC:
Similarly as both teams lost their opening games to Bechem United and WAFA respectively. Karela United hasn’t been the team many saw in the just ended Normalisation Committe special competition due to the fact that, most of their key players left the club. On the other hand, the Sharks notably only lost goalkeeper Richard Attah who has been replaced by Suad Bawa whois joining from division two side Proud United. Another big boost for the Sharks as talisman, Tweneboa Benjamin extended his contract with them few weeks ago. Will be an entertaining one in Elmina as both teams like to do more of possession but the home side are having all the odds in this one.
Great Olympics VRS Aduana Stars:
The Accra Stadium isn’t freed yet as Great Olympics welcome Aduana Stars in Accra in a penultimate clash. The Ole lads were pipped by the Miners in Obuasi by 3-0 in their opening game. Whiles, the “Ogya” lads look to maintain top spot after round two as they eye another win this week. An emphatic 4-0 thrashing they gave to Inter Allies last week in Dormaa handed them the first position on the league log as it remained the biggest scoreline of the first games. Hatrick hero, Yahya Mohammed really gave a good account last week after netting thrice making him the first player to do that in the 2019/20 campaign.
*WAFA VRS Ebusua Dwarfs:
The Academy boys look favourite prior to this game meanwhile the Crabs look somehow unready for the season as they failed to replace the likes of Bright Lukman, Paul Abaka Nkrumah, Osman Mohammed etc who left the club before the commencement of the new season. WAFA won 1-3 in their first game in Takwa and will want to continue with their dominance at Sogakope in this new season like they have been doing in recent years. Having lost their opening game at home to Medeama S.C in the previous week, let’s see how they respond to that defeat tomorrow at the Red Bull Arena.
