Newly appointed head coach of Zimbabwe, Zdravko Logarusic has stated categorically clear that Ghana are favourite to lead Group C in the preliminary round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. He made this declaration in an interview with Kumasi base Fox FM.
The Zimbabwean Football Federation after failing in the 2019 AFCON have decided to hand over their senior national team to Zvravko Logarusic who has been in the African football for sometime now. He has coached clubs like King Faisel FC and Asante Kotoko all in Ghana, Gor Mahia in Kenya and just recently he was with the Sudanese national team.
Just about some few weeks ago, the FIFA World Cup preliminary round qualifiers was held in Cairo Egypt and he will have to battle it out with Ghana, South Africa and Ethiopia in Group G to see if he can help the Warriors cruise to the third preliminary round.
Despite having Ghana in the same group, the Serbian gaffer still tipped the Black Stars as the favourite to top the table with all things been equal. He indicated the Black Stars comprises of players that plays at the highest level in most of the European leagues as compared to his own Zimbabwe and the other opponents. Logarusic said;
“I could not talk as a supporter, I must talk as a coach, Ghana has many quality players who play much bigger games than against South Africa, and the rest, so in the group, Ghana is absolutely the favourite.
We have to fight for position number 2 because Ghana is definitely like to finish first.”
The second preliminary round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup will be honoured on six match days commencing from 5 October 2020 to October 12 2021. Winners of each group in the end will advance into the third round of the prelims.
