As the winter transfer window closes this midnight, Italian Serie A outfit ACF Fiorentina look to strengthen their midfield for the second phase of the season after announcing the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Alfred Duncan from US Sassuolo on loan.
The 26 year old midfielder is joining the Violas on an initial loan deal with an option to make it permanent in the summer for €15million.
ACF Fiorentina wrote on their website;
“ACF Fiorentina announces that it has acquired, on a temporary basis with a redemption obligation, from the US Sassuolo Calcio, the rights to the sports performances of the footballer Joseph Alfred Duncan.”
The young enterprising midfielder is known to be a workaholic and a little bit combative. He’s very good when it comes to ball distribution with great vision and is of no doubt most Ghanaians see him as part of the future of the Black Stars.
Alfred Duncan, 26, has spent almost his entire football career as of now in Italy. After graduating from Inter Milan academy in 2010, he has featured for clubs like UC Sampdoria, Livorvo and has been with US Sassuolo since the commencement of the 2015/16 season.
After spending almost four seasons at the MAPEI Stadium, he made 130 appearances for the Green and Blacks. Just this season, he has played 13 games so far this season having scored one assisted five in all competitions.
When it comes to national team football, Alfred Duncan has featured for the Black Satellites and also the senior national team. He was included in the Black Stars squad that played against South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers which was played in November last year.
