Initially, the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season was to commence on November 17 from what Congress agreed during the day of electing the new GFA President and its Executive Council Members. Latest news stipulates the league will begin in mid-December, Eblaradio can exclusively confirm.
Right after the GFA Elections, the new chairman Kurt Okraku met with the President of Ghana, Nana Akuffo Addo where he congratulated him and threw his support behind him in the next four years to redeem the image of Ghana football.
They also discussed the way forward of Ghana football and how to acquire sponsorship for the upcoming league season. Earlier reports indicated the government is ready to sponsor the league for now with $2m which will be joint-sponsored by GNPC and Ghana Gas.
The 2019/20 Ghana league season will consist of 18 clubs instead of the usual 16.
Since the 2017/18 season got halted by the number 12 expose, they have not been any active club football in the country.
Player registrations and transfers currently ongoing as the clubs continue with preparations in order to jell themselves very well for the upcoming season.
