After a tough drawn game with Cameroon in the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations last night, Head Coach of the Black Meteors Ibrahim Tanko has disclosed the results against Cameroon last night was the true reflection of the game.
Late strike from centre-back Habib Mohammed on the 87th minute brought the Meteors back on level when Cameroon skipper Franck Junior Evina had already plotted in a brilliant free kick on the 58th minute to put the Indomitable Lions in front.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko in his pre-match presser admitted it was a fair result for his side. He stated most of the boys he worked with during the qualifiers were not released by their various clubs so he had to establish a new team to compete for the 2020 Olympic Games slot.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko on the game itself and Egypt’s clash.
“The first 25 minutes was not good, we allowed them to play, some of our players were very nervous, but we came in very strong in the second half.”
“Our game against Egypt will not be easy, but we are going to try out best to win, so we stay in the tournament.”
Ghana will take on host nation Egypt in their second game of the season. The Pharaohs humbled Mali 1-0 in the opening game early yesterday at the famous Cairo International Stadium. The winner of Ghana-Egypt clash will cruise to the Semi finals of the competition.
