The second round of games kick starts today in the ongoing Africa U-23 Cup of Nations. Host nation Egypt will take on the Black Meteors of Ghana this evening at the Cairo International stadium.
As the Olympic Games slots are still at stake, a win for any of the teams will help them cruise to the Semi finals of the competition having avoided defeats in their first games.
The Pharoahs are obviously the favourites heading into this encounter as the tournament is been held on their own soil. However, Mostafa Mohammed’s strike propelled them to a slim win over Mali in the opening game of the tournament.
On the other hand, the Black Meteors will have to exhibit a high level of performance in order to grind the results they are expecting in order to keep their chances of qualifying alive. Late equaliser from Habib Mohammed on the stroke of full time cancelled Franck Evien’s free kick opener to earn a point from losing position against Cameroon
Still in Group A, Mali despite losing their opening game to the host nation will have another point to prove as they take on the Indomitable Lions today. The Eagles will be sent packing should they lose to coach Rigobert Song and his charges today.
Egypt at the moment are leading the Group A table with three points, Cameroon and Ghana all with a point whiles Mali lies bottom of the table with no point. Interesting fixtures coming up!
