Ghanaian top flight outfit, Karela United FC have opted to move to Takoradi where they will be playing their home games at the Essipong Stadium in the upcoming 2019/20 league season.
Initially, the Anyinase based club use to play their home games at the Crosby Awuah Memorial Park since gaining qualification into the top flight in the 2017/18 campaign but have agreed to leave there for now due to renovation works ongoing at the said venue. Report indicates the CAM park pitch will be an astro turf after everything.
Karela United have been sensational in Anyinase since gaining promotion into the premier league having gone unbeaten in Anyinase. In the league that was halted by the number 12 expose, they were very sensational having recorded victories against both Heart of Oak and Asante Kotoko.
Also, in the just ended Normalisation Committee special cup, they also put up a splendid performance having lost the tier I final to Kotoko on penalties.
With all these, Karela United will now be ready to thrill the people of Takoradi with their sumptuous display of football like they have been doing in recent years. For the first time since 2016, premier league football returns to the Essipong stadium.
