Ghanaian giant Asante Kotoko S.C have confirmed Maxwell Konadu as their new head coach ahead of the upcoming season, his second time of landing the club’s coaching task.
The Porcupine Warriors few months ago parted ways with Norwegian tactician, Kjetil Zachariassen, the management decided to go back to the coach who landed them their 22nd league title.
The two time African champions couldn’t leave up to the height in the preliminary round of both the CAF Champions league and the Confederations Cup, it is the main reason Maxwell was handed the mandate to surpass that mark.
The 47 year old gaffer knows the local game very well after remaining as the coach of the home base national team for almost five years now.
He guided the Black Stars B to win the 2017 WAFU Zone B championship and also finished as the runners up in the recent edition which was held in Senegal of which the host nation won.
Maxwell Konadu also had to vacate the Kotoko job in 2013 to take over the national under 20 (Black Meteors) and was subsequently appointed as the assistant coach of the Black Stars.
Maxwell Konadu stated this after his appointment;
“I am back and I can say that I am very delighted with the development. I thank the management and the supporters for the confidence shown in me. I will do my best but will ask the supporters to exercise patience as we are trying to improve the team.”
Management of Asante Kotoko have handed Coach Maxwell Konadu two mandates, he’s been asked to win the league title in his first season and qualify the team to the Group Stages of the Champions league in his second season.
