Ghana Premier League side Legon Cities FC formerly known as Wa All Stars have yesterday unveiled their new kits in a stunning fashion ahead of the upcoming season. The unveiling was headed by veteran goalie, Fataw Dauda.
Since the new owners took over the club from the former GFA boss, Mr. Kwesi Nyantakyi, they have tried any means possible to change the club’s identity. The team was first moved from Wa to the country’s capital, Accra.
Just recently, Mr. Atippoe, former Black Stars defender John Paintsil and the other partners have identified the newly constructed astro turf in Madina Zongo as their home grounds for the upcoming season despite it rejection by the Club Licensing Board during their inspections.
Initially, John Paintsil was made to be the team’s head coach but a declaration from the GFA that a coach must acquire at least a CAF license A or it equivalent before one can coach in the Ghana’s top flight changed everything since the former Fulham right back lacks that. This led to the appointment of Bosnian-German gaffer, Goran Barjaktarevic as the team’s new coach with Paintsil reassigned to the scouting role.
The team again, changed their name from Wa All Stars to Legon Cities FC including the unveiling of the team’s new logo.
The team has been the talking point anywhere on social media following the stunning and beautiful unveiling of their new jerseys ahead of the upcoming season.
Legon Cities FC will be kicking off the 2019/20 season on Sunday, December 29, 2019 as they travel to Dansoman to play Liberty Professionals at the Karl Reindorlf Park.
