Newly branded Legon Cities FC hosts Asante Kotoko S.C in a match week two fixture of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier league tonight at the Ohene Gyan Stadium.
The much anticipated fixture comes off this evening and for the first time in some years, fans are going to witness a night football in our league. Initially, this initiative was banned 19 years ago due to the May 9th disaster which happened in 2001 but has now been approved by the Government.
Although the game is going to be the main event tonight but there’s also going to an electrifying performance from top Ghanaian Dancehall artist Shatta Wale to thrill the fans at the Accra Stadium even before the main kickoff.
Legon Cities FC previously Wa All Stars have been in serious preparations towards this season after the takeover. They have signed young and experience players to build a formidable side for the season with goalkeeper Fatau Dauda one of the household names in their set up.
They held Liberty Professionals to a pulsating four goal thriller in the opening game at the Karl Reindorlf park in Dansoman. They took two goal lead but ended up drawing the game 2-2 with the Scientific Soccer lads.
However, Asante Kotoko S.C have also prepared themselves very well for this season having signed series of players to strengthen their team after failing to make it into the money zone of both the CAF Champions league and the Confederations Cup.
In their opening fixture of the season, the Porcupine Warriors narrowly edged Eleven Wonders by 1-0 courtesy Justice Blay’s early strike which is tagged as the first goal of this year’s campaign.
The “Kum Apem” charges arrived in Accra early yesterday morning and held a training last night at the match venue since the game is going to be in session under the floodlight.
Surprisingly, the Royals look very optimistic of beating the giants on Friday. They visited the Echoing Hills Village to exhibit some of their social responsibilities having made some donations to the orphanage ahead of their big game tonight.
