The Executive Board Chairman of Asante Kotoko S.C, Dr. Kwame Kyei has confirmed to the supporters of the club that they can’t hand Songne Yacouba the $15,000 he is demanding from the club and therefore he’s likely to leave when his contract expires.
This declaration was made yesterday at the premises of Ash FM when the fans met to watch the team’s matchweek five league game against Ebusua Dwarfs following the stadium ban handed to the club few days ago by the GFA.
According to the club’s CEO, the team has proposed to pay Songne Yacouba 50,000 cedis every year but the player and his representatives rejected the offer and insisted he will continue with the club only when he’s given the amount they are demanding.
He continued by confirming the 28 year old Burkinabe import will be departing in some weeks to come since his contract with the club ends next month.
Dr.Kwame Kyei said;
“Honestly, the $150,000 Songne Yacouba is demanding from us is too much for our salary bill and we can’t afford to pay him that money every year. We had an offer for him of which we would have come back him later but be rejected it.”
The Burkinabe attacker after five games this season hasn’t registered his name on the score sheet for the “Kum Apem” boys but has provided some assists for his teammates notably that game against Legon Cities FC in Accra of which he was adjudged man of the match in the end.
