MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps FC have completed the signing of former Dreams FC captain, Leonard Owusu from Israeli side Al Ashdod with the use of the Targeted Allocation Money.
The Canadian based club look to strengthen their team ahead of the upcoming season which commences next month. Leonard Owusu is joining until 2022 with an option to extend for another year.
The 22 year old is a typical central midfielder and one of his great asset on the pitch is his good vision for passes. As a captain of Dreams FC, he helped the team to qualify to the country’s top flight league and also guided the Still Believe boys to win the GHALCA top 8 in 2018 and was also named MVP of the competition before leaving for Israeli outfit Al Ashdod.
Initially he joined them on a season long loan before the deal was later made permanent. During his spell in Israel he made 46 league appearances including 13 games in their cup competitions thus the State Cup and the Toto Cup.
Leonard Owusu, 22, after completing his switch stated;
“I’m very excited to join Whitecaps FC, it’s a great honour for me to wear the Blue and White and become part of the family.
“I would like to thank Mr. Schuster and Mr. Dos Santos for their efforts, and I can’t wait to repay their faith in me with my play on the pitch.”
