French ligue 1 side Amiens SC have announced the signing of Black Stars centre back Nicolas Opoku with some few days to end the winter transfer window.
The 22 year old stalwart defender after completing his medicals earlier today will be joining the Unicorns on loan until the end of the season from Udinese. There’s also a clause with an option to sign him on permanent basis for €4.5million
Amiens SC confirmed Nicholas Opoku’s capture on their official Facebook page. They wrote;
‘Nicholas Opoku joins Amiens SC on loan for 6 months with purchase option.
The former Berekum Chelsea defender had a fantastic spell before leaving for Tunisia to sign for Club Africaine in 2017. Just a year after, he made a remarkable switch in his career to join Italian side Udinese Calcio.
Nicholas Opoku has passed through all the ranks as far as the Ghana national team is concern having featured for the both the Black Starlets and the Black Satellites.
He made his senior debut in the Black Stars’s 2-1 defeat to the United States in 2017 in Connecticut after coming on as a substitute for injured Rashid Sumaila on the 38th minute.
Just recently, he was part of the Black Meteors squad that fought really hard to qualify the team to the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations for the first time which was staged in Egypt last year in November. Opoku really played very well against Algeria in Setif in the last round of qualifiers but couldn’t make it the tournament proper.
