Coach Prosper Narteh has disclosed his boys look very determined this time around as they come face to face with Asante Kotoko this afternoon in Sogakope in match week eight of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier league.
The Academy boys gaffer despite staying winless in their last two home games against Hearts of Oak and Liberty Professionals, stated he’s work and have rectified the problems of his players and believe they are poised and prepared to do battle this afternoon.
However, Coach Maxwell Konadu and his charges after salvaging a point against Liberty last Sunday are anticipating to record a victory today in order to move top of the league table. The team trained at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (Prampram) yesterday before journeying back to Sogakope for the herculean clash this afternoon.
The Sogakope base outfit started the season on a higher note having picked victories over Karela United and Ebusua Dwarfs. Despite a good start, the team went four games without victory having drew three and lost one to Liberty Professionals at their own grounds to break the club’s fine home record which has stood for almost five years. The team however returned to winning ways with a slim triumph over Great Olympics over the weekend in Accra.
Also, Asante Kotoko are unbeaten in their last three games in the league with victories over Ebusua Dwarfs, bitterest rivals Hearts of Oak and and a drawn game with the Scientific Soccer lads in Kumasi.
WAFA are found 7th on the Premier league table with 12 points whereas Kotoko places 5th with 13 points, just a point separating the two sides. It was a goalless drawn game the last time both teams met at the Red Bull Arena in the league.
Coach Prosper Narteh has all his players fit and available for the heavyweight this afternoon.
The likes of goalkeeper Sabi Acquah, captain Ibrahim Abukari, Prosper Ahiabu, Owusu Marvin, Eric Asmany and all the other players look poised and ready to be in action this afternoon against the “Kum Apem” lads.
On the other hand, Maxwell Konadu has been handed a massive boost as Maxwell Baako and centre-back Abdul Ganiyu Ismael were both declared fit for this encounter.
Goalkeeper Felix Annan returns into the post against his former club today after missing the team’s last three games in the league.
Songne Yacouba is still not part of the team whiles young sensation Mathew Anim Cudjoe is currently on a week trial with German giant Bayern Munich.
