Cracker tonight at the Ohene Gyan Stadium as Hearts of Oak comes up against Ashanti Gold SC in the last game of match week eight of the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League campaign.
An emphatic away triumph last Sunday in Dawu brought the Phobians back on winning ways after that defeat to their arc rivals Asante Kotoko. Another tedious task for the Phobians to prove to their fans that indeed they are in to clinch the league to end their nine year drought.
The Miners however, have been boosted with the return of midfield dynamo Appiah McCarthy and centre-back Abdul Samed Ibrahim who even scored in their last league game against Dwarfs in Obuasi. Obviously the Phobians will be a pain in the neck for the Miners due to the recent form of the Phobians.
Hearts of Oak in their last three games completed a superb comeback over Liberty Professionals, lost painfully to Kotoko after conceding a penalty in the dying embers before putting Dreams FC to sleep in a game the home side dubbed “no escape.”
Ashgold despite having a good start with three consecutive victories to go top of the league table at a point, the team has been in a mess off late going three games with no win having drawn with Legon Cities FC and lost to Berekum Chelsea in Obuasi and Medeama SC in Tarkwa. Though they got back to winning ways over the weekend after edging Ebusua Dwarfs by 2-0.
Both teams have a well organised squad with some individual brilliance in there. The return of Appiah McCarthy and Abdul Latif Anabila in their last game has really boosted the Miners midfield whereas newly signed Abedenago Tetteh is likely to make his debut for the Phobians tonight.
One department people will want to keep their eyes on very well will be the midfield battle which obviously the team to dominate is likely to carry the night and run out will all three points.
