Shocking results produced in the King’s Cup (Copa Del Ray) last night as two Spanish giants Real Madrid CF and FC Barcelona all suffered elimination from the competition by mid table clubs. This is the first time since 1955 that both teams have been evicted from the competition in one night.
The shock continued as Real Madrid got humbled 3-4 by Real Sociedad last night at the Santiago Bernabeu to end their run in the 2019/20 Copa del Ray. Five star performance from youngster Alexander Isak with a brace and an assist ensured the Blancos packed out of the competition.
On loan Real Madrid player Martin Ordegaard decided not to celebrate after breaking the deadlock last night. Real Madrid had a superb fight back in the second half but all their efforts wasn’t enough as they had their two goals disallowed by VAR.
However, another surprise occurred later in the night as Athletico Bilbao dumped out FC Barcelona by a narrow 1-0 win last night at the Estadio San Mamerse Baria.
Spanish born Ghanaian national, Inaki Williams scored just on the stroke of full time to cruise his side into the last four after the Blaugranas had dominated possession and squandered host of chances.
Defending champions Valencia were also presented with a huge surprise last Tuesday at the Los Carmenes after losing 2-1 to Granada. They sail through to the Semi finals for the first time in 50 years. Meanwhile, Villarreal was also crushed out of the competition by second tier side CD Mirandes last Wednesday.
