Undoubtedly the biggest fixture of the Ghana Premier league match week 11 comes off this afternoon at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Stadium between Aduana Stars and Asante Kotoko SC.
Aduana Stars were leapfrogged from the first position following the 5-2 humiliation they suffered in Dansoman last Sunday. The only positive the two time champions can derive from the game is their forward Yahya Mohammed who bagged brace to extend his goal tally on the top scoring chat to 10, tied with Nigerien national Adebayor.
The Dormaa based outfit started the league on a higher note only for them to dip along the road. They are winless in their last three games in the league; lost to Dwarfs in Cape Coast, held to a stalemate by Hearts and just recently got humiliated by Liberty Professionals in Dansoman.
However, the Porcupine Warriors since losing to Medeama in week four haven’t lost a game in this year’s campaign. One might tend to draw positive from that since the team are currently placed second on the league table.
Their last game was against Ashanti Gold last Sunday in Kumasi of which they got stretched to a goalless stalemate. It is obvious Asante Kotoko’s striking department is their sole headache now since the team is failing to score more goals in their recent games.
Asante Kotoko have netted only two goals from match week six of the league till now including an own goal. This clearly indicates how the team are missing their starman Songne Yacouba who has been sidelined for some time now due to unknown reasons. Again, he’s been left out of Coach Maxwell Konadu’s 18 man squad for this game.
Aduana Stars have been without two defenders Hafiz Adams (groin) and Farouk Adams (suspension) in their last two games. The return of these players means Amevoh Musah and Isaac Kwain are likely not to be seen in the line up today.
Big blow for Asante Kotoko as midfielder Justice Blay couldn’t recover on time for this herculean clash. It is very likely the technical team will stick to Kingsley Effah to fill into Blay’s shoes like he did against the Miners.
Probable line for both teams;
Joseph Addo, Isaac Kwain, Tijani Joshua, Caleb Amankwah, Farouk Adams, Elvis Opoku (C), Flavio Kouassi Kongoza, Samuel Bioh, Fatau Abdul Rahman, Bright Adjei and Yahya Mohammed.
Kwame Baah, Christopher Nettey, Ibrahim Moro, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, Habib Mohammed, Kingsley Effah, Collins Ameyaw, Emmanuel Gyamfi (C), Augustine Okrah, Naby Keita and Richard Arthur.
