C.K Akonnor announces his maiden Black Stars call up ahead of Sudan’s double header.

Head coach of the senior men’s national team Charles Kwablan Akonnor has finally announced his maiden Black Stars call up ahead of the double header against Sudan in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers.

The 23 players consist of three goalkeepers, seven defenders, nine midfielders and four attackers. As usual, captain Andre Ayew and his younger brother Jordan Ayew made the cut so as Mubarak Wakaso and Kassim Nuhu and some other senior players.

Under the supervision of assistant coach David Duncan, four local players have been included in the squad of which three are debutants. Hearts of Oak’s goalie Richard Attah, Asante Kotoko’s Habib Mohammed, Kwadwo Amoako of Ashgold and Yahya Mohammed.

Ghana are drawn in Group C together with South Africa, Sudan and Sao Tome and Principe. The Black Stars are currently leading the group log after recording victories over the Bafana Bafanas and Sao Tome in November last year.

The team will start their camping in Accra where they will spend two days before they move to Cape Coast where the game is going to be played. The match comes off on March 27 with the return leg coming up three days after in Omdurman.
