Jordan Ayew’s solitary strike against Watford yesterday gets him a new record as he’s now tied with legendary Anthony Yeboah as Ghanaians with the highest number of goals (24) in the history of the premier league.
Earlier today at the Selhurst Park, Jordan Ayew netted his eighth goal of the season after scoring the only goal for the Eagles to grind all three points from the Hornets, his best in a single season so far in the English top flight.
The Crystal Palace forward obviously is enjoying his best season since joining the premier league having scored eight goals. He’s already netted seven goals in two previous campaigns; he did for Aston Villa in his first season in the Premier league and also for Swansea City in the 2016/17 season.
Jordan Ayew has now scored five match winners so far this season for the Eagles, he did it against West Ham United on two occasions, Manchester United at Old Trafford, his former club Aston Villa and against Watford just yesterday.
Prior to yesterday’s clash, Anthony Yeboah was leading the chat with 24 goals. He achieved that task in just two seasons (1994/95 and 1995/96) with 47 games. Meanwhile Jordan Ayew reached the mark after 128 games followed by his senior brother Andre Ayew with 21 goals whom he surpassed after scoring against Arsenal early this year.
Here’s the list of top five Ghanaian players with the most goals in the Premier league;
1st: Anthony Yeboah (24 goals, 47 games)
2nd: Jordan Ayew (24 goals, 128 games)
3rd: Andre Ayew (21 goals, 89 games)
4th: Michael Essien (17 goals, 168 games)
5th: Asamoah Gyan (10 goals, 34 games)
