In a release spotted by Ebla Radio, the National Identification Authority (NIA), has directed its field officials who are currently conducting the mass registration exercise in the Eastern region of Ghana to continue with the exercise despite a directive from the President to suspend all form of public gatherings.
The release has gone viral on several social media platforms and has invited diverse comments from the general public.
The mass registration exercise which started on 29th April, 2019, is expected to end with the Eastern region on 27th March, 2020.
Many expect the exercise to be suspended in the wake of the deadly Coronavirus spread, taking into consideration the large crowd of individuals that converge daily at the registration centres.
NIA has instructed it’s field officials to remain at post and continue the exercise under set guidelines and protocols.
