Bank roller of New Edubiase FC, Abdul Salam Yakubu famously known in the game as ‘Sabato’ has disclosed he wants the rest of the Ghana Football season to be cancelled due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The COVID-19 has really caused havoc to the sporting world in 2020 having remained as the main reason most of the upcoming football and other sporting events have been suspended. With this Abdul Salam believe the season should be made to commence afresh.
Sabato added by suggesting to the GFA to declare the rest of the season null and void since he doesn’t see why they should continue playing this league. He believes if indeed they want to synchronise with the European calender, then they will have to start a new season and cancelled the previous campaign.
He disclosed this in an interview with Accra base Asempa FM. He said;
“The GFA have to give us time to prepare our team when the pandemic is over to play the second round, because you can’t tell us to resume immediately (play the following week).
“We need at least two weeks to a month to prepare and play the league of which time is not on our side because we want to synchronize with the European calendar.
”Clubs also are not disciplined as regards fielding unqualified players which need to be addressed because it will affect the league.
“The 2019/20 football should be voided for us to go to Congress.”
