Dedicated Ghanaian international winger Christian Atsu has stated he’s not interested in playing for the Black Stars anymore following how he got rejected by the GFA officials after sustaining an injury in the 2019 AFCON.
The Newcastle United man has really expressed his displeasure over officials of the GFA as he believed they rejected him after hurting himself when he was serving the nation. The skillful winger picked a knock against Cameroon in the 2019 AFCON which kept him on sideline for two months.
According to the 28 year old winger, during those difficult times, none of the officials of the Ghana Football Association even contacted him on how he’s progressing after the injury. Reports indicate Atsu disclosed this to the Black Stars head coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor during his European tour.
On the effect, the ex-Chelsea winger has also stated the injury has really caused several problems to his career losing his position at the St James’s Park. Again, he’s not getting his wages and bonuses like he use to as he can only rely on salaries because he wasn’t playing. He’s facing all these difficulties because of an injury he sustained when playing for his nation.
Christian Atsu has had some good moments with the Black Stars since making his debut in 2012 playing in four different AFCON tournaments (2013, 2015, 2017 & 2019) and one World Cup.
He was also adjudged most valuable player in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations which was staged in Equatorial Guinea.
