Volta branch of the Ghana Hotels Association has supported the Covid -19 testing centre at UHAS- Ho

The Volta Region branch of the Ghana Hotels Association on Wednesday May,13th has supported the COVID-19 Testing Centre at the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho through the donation of items which included one (1) double door refrigerator, four hundred (400) pieces of Eppendorf tubes, ten (10) surgical gowns, ten (10) packets of powder-free gloves and five (5) cartons of surgical masks.

The rest of items donated were one (1) carton of hand sanitizers one (1) carton of hand washing liquid soup, six (6) units of jumbo paper towels,
and two (2) sets of Veronica Buckets.

In brief remarks before the presentation of the items, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. John Owusu Gyapong indicated that even though the centre had begun testing of samples about two weeks ago, there were some minor challenges which the capable staff were addressing.

He was, however, happy about the presence of the Regional Minister, as well as the presence of the Association.

He intimated that testing of samples at the Centre formed part of services the University could provide under the Community Service of three tenets of the University; Teaching, Research and Community Service.

He further indicated that the Centre was in charge of testing samples from the Volta and Oti Regions with results being provided within 24 hours.

He was particularly happy about donation of the Association, for the item had met the needs of the Centre.

Mr. Mack Hotor, the Chairman of the Association in the Region, on his part, remarked that the Association had heard of the establishment of the Centre and felt the need to also support it to test samples from the region and across the country.

Dr Archibald Yao Letsa , the Hon Regional Minister for Volta Region expressed the appreciation of Government and the Regional Public Health Emergency Management Committee to the University for its contribution in the fight against the coronavirus in Region and the nation as a whole. Dr Letsa as well expressed his appreciation to the Association for the kind gesture.

He, however, seized the opportunity to appeal to other associations, business entities and individuals to support the fight against the the spread of the virus in the Region. Particularly, since the wearing of face masks had become law, they could donate some (face masks) to the less privileged in the Region.

According to Dr Letsa, He was happy and privileged to be part of the presentation of the donation.
