The new Commanding Officer of the 66 Artillery Regiment, Lt Col. Edward Sarpong Appiah, who took over command of the Regiment in December 2020 has paid a courtesy call on Hon. Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, H.E. the President’s Representative at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council and Volta Regional Minister Designate, today at the office. He used the call to officially introduce himself to Dr. Letsa in his new capacity and solicit the continued support of the Co-ordinating Council for the Regiment.
Lt Col. Appiah congratulated Dr. Letsa on his re-nomination as the Regional Minister Designate. He therefore pledged his support and loyalty to Dr Letsa as the incoming Regional Minister and Chairman of the Regional Security Council in the pursuit of security and safety issues in the Region.
On the part of the Hon Minister Designate, Dr. Letsa congratulated Lt. Col. Appiah on his new appointment and indicated that he was not new to the Council as well as himself. Dr Letsa intimated how the Council had enjoyed working with him as the Second-in-Command (2iC) of the Regiment and the Commander Rear in the absence of the Commanding Officer.
He stated how happy he was that Lt Col. Appiah took over Command of the Regiment from Col. Pantoah having excelled himself as the 2iC. In this regard, he expressed the confidence that the new Commanding Officer would continue to work effectively and efficiently with the Council.
Consequently, Dr. Letsa assured him of the readiness of the Council to work with him indicating the Council’s support for him in whatever he would do as leader of the Regiment.
In addition, Dr. Letsa seized the opportunity to commend the Regiment for the role it has been playing in the Region and the Country.
He finally expressed the hope that officers and men of the Regiment would give the new Commanding Officer the necessary support, as he wished him success in the new role.
